Prof. Dr. Arif ERSOY

Arif Ersoy (d. 1 Ocak 1948, Çorum - ö. 1 Eylül 2020, Ankara), Türk akademisyen ve siyasetçi.

Ersoy graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Politics and Administration in 1973, and also graduated from Konya Higher Islamic Institute. He completed his master's degree in Economic Development, Faculty of Economics, Leeds University, England, in 1976. He completed his doctorate degree at Ege University, Faculty of Economics in 1979 and then became Assistant Professor in 1982, Associate Professor of Economics in 1986 and Professor of Economics in 1992.

Career

He worked as a Research Assistant at Ege University Faculty of Economics between 1977 and 1979, and as a Doctor of Economics at the same university between 1979 and 1982. Between 1982 and 1986, he served as an Assistant Professor at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Economics, between 1982 and 1983, as Deputy Head of the Department of Economics, between 1986 and 1992, as an Associate Professor of Economics, and between 1992 and 1994, as a Professor of Economics at the same institution. has been found. In 1990, he was a visiting professor at Renmin University in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, for nine months. He served as Mayor of Çorum for the first term between 27 March 1994 and 17 April 1999, and then served as Mayor of Çorum for the second term between 18 April 1999 and 8 August 2002. Between May 1999 and June 2002, he served as a member of the Council of Europe's Council of Local Authorities. He retired from Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics on January 1, 2016. He served as the head of the Department of Economics at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, the director of the International Islamic Economy Research and Application Center established within the same university, and the General Secretary of the Economic and Social Research Center in Ankara. Prof. Dr. Arif Ersoy applied for the Justice and Development Party Çorum Deputy Candidate on 20 February 2015 for the 7 June 2015 general elections. Prof. Dr. Arif Ersoy died at the age of 72 in the hospital where he was treated for heart failure on September 1, 2020.
